Generating Employment

Creating jobs is a keystone of any economic recovery program. Many activities can fall under the rubric of job creation, including immediate short-term opportunities that yield quick impact, or the development of more enduring livelihoods in the civil service or private sector. It is important to distinguish between these different activities, recognizing that sustainability and long-term impact should be duly considered in implementing any employment generation program. Providing jobs is vital on many levels. Politically, employment opportunities give the population a stake in the peace process by providing young men and women with alternatives to violence. Economically, employment provides income to poor families, revives domestic demand for goods and services, and stimulates overall growth. Socially, employment can also promote social healing, encourage the return of displaced persons, and improve social welfare in the long run. Jobs do much more than provide income. They allow families better access to amenities like safe water and reliable energy, which in turn free up time and money and improve health and education. And there are business benefits from investing in job creation too.

Spreading Education

EDUCATION is the backbone of any nation. Nothing is possible to achieve without education in a society. That is why, 'education for all' is a popular slogan in most developing nations. Poverty can not be eradicated if illiteracy is not removed. Similarly, lack of education gives way to various kinds of corruption in a society. The light of education must be spread among people of all areas irrespective of religion, caste or creed. Extensive research has revealed that in our country there is a gap of 13 per cent in the literacy rates of male and female population. Compared to men, our women are lagging behind in education, the root cause being lack of interest of the parents to get their girls educated. Particularly the parents in rural areas feel that it is not important for the girls to get educated. We cannot expect to bring up an enlightened nation keeping half of the population in the dark. At the same time, we need to update and upgrade our education to match the demand of time. The government has been trying hard to bring qualitative changes in the education sector and lead the country on to the road to success in socio-economic development. The able students must come forward to develop our nation.

Cleaning Environment

The environment around us is an essential part of human survival. Usually, the people don’t care about the environment. Infact, they are unaware of the importance of a clean and natural environment. WE should be concerned about the following things,

Development of new skills is one of the most important outcomes of continuous learning. Professionals who are in the habit of constantly learning not only gain perfection in their own field but also develop new skills. Such professionals, besides performing their own tasks with perfection, become helpful to their colleagues too. Employees with multiple skills become prized assets for their organizations.

Students are the human capital of the country and it is essential to empower them for the development of the economy. Some of the benefits of skill-based education include:

  • Flexibility: Skill-based education places the ownership of learning in the hands of students and helps them restrict the big gap of understanding.

Sensitizing People

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”

– Nelson Mandela (South African anti-apartheid revolutionary)

Sensitization literally means making people ‘sensitive’ about an issue. This is the core of awareness raising and is what you ideally want to achieve – that people become aware and react to certain issues. There may be different strategies to sensitize people around you?

  • Improving knowledge: This means that you want to inform people about an issue and make sure that they have the correct information to truly understand the issue. You want your target audience to think critically about the issue and actively process information.
  • Changing attitudes: This means that you want to change people’s behaviour or attitudes towards the issue. You need to explain to them how new behaviours and attitudes will have an impact and maybe even change cultural norms and beliefs.
  • Focus on skills: Make sure people have the skills to go with their changed behaviour and attitudes.
  • Building social support: People you are sensitizing should know where they can get support, or give support, to other people facing the same issue.
Organic Agriculture

Food quality and safety are the two important factors that have gained ever-increasing attention in general consumers. Conventionally grown foods have immense adverse health effects due to the presence of higher pesticide residue, more nitrate, heavy metals, hormones, antibiotic residue, and also genetically modified organisms. Moreover, conventionally grown foods are less nutritious and contain lesser amounts of protective antioxidants. In the quest for safer food, the demand for organically grown foods has increased during the last decades due to their probable health benefits and food safety concerns. Organic food production is defined as cultivation without the application of chemical fertilizers and synthetic pesticides or genetically modified organisms, growth hormones, and antibiotics. The popularity of organically grown foods is increasing day by day owing to their nutritional and health benefits. Organic farming also protects the environment and has a greater socio-economic impact on a nation. India is a country that is bestowed with indigenous skills and potentiality for growth in organic agriculture. Although India was far behind in the adoption of organic farming due to several reasons, presently it has achieved rapid growth in organic agriculture and now becomes one of the largest organic producers in the world. Therefore, organic farming has a great impact on the health of a nation like India by ensuring sustainable development.
